The corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic has caused a lot of anxiety amongst everyone. According to WHO, as of 17 April 2020, more than 2.15 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in 210 countries and territories, resulting in more than 145,000 deaths. More than 543,000 people have recovered, although there may be a possibility of relapse or re-infection. The deaths per diagnosed cases varies significantly between countries.
As of 17 April 2020, total cases of infection are 1838, deaths are 75 and recovered is 58 in Bangladesh due to this highly contagious Corona virus. It is suspected that low level Community Transformation of this virus is also taking place in Bangladesh. There is no specific treatment for this disease caused by a novel corona virus and a vaccine will take some time to develop.
This Covid-19 can only be prevented/controlled by maintaining social distancing and avoiding unnecessary movement outside or maintain quarantine at home strictly/ at all cost as per instructions of the Govt of Bangladesh and its Health Services.
The Directorate General of Health Services (ltr attached) declared the whole country as “Risky for COVID-19” under the Section 11(1) of the Contagious Diseases ( Prevention, Control and Elimination) Act, 2018 ( Act no 61 of 2018).
Considering the above, I very earnestly request my all the Students, Staff Officers and Faculty Members of BUP to follow the instructions/guidelines of Directorate General of Health Services by any cost. Your active support in this regard will help your family and the community from spreading this contagious Covid-19 virus.
